Books<\/span><\/h1>\n

One of my favorite books is <\/span>On the Road with St. Augustine<\/span><\/i><\/a> by James K.A. Smith, which applies Augustine\u2019s timeless wisdom to everyday life. Another great read for the new year is <\/span>Winning the War in Your Mind<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Craig Groeschel, which combines brain science and the Bible to teach us how to take our thoughts captive. And if you\u2019re wrestling with Christianity (or know someone who is), <\/span>Confronting Christianty<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Rebecca McLaughlin is a great book that tackles 12 hard questions that keep people from Christ. –<\/span>Mike Adkins, Senior Pastor<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/i><\/p>\n

The Deeply Formed Life<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Rich Villodas is a great book for the new year on spiritual formation. It challenges us to think about the depth of our spiritual experience as the source of our spiritual behaviors and the well from which our faith must draw. –<\/span>Rick Garrett, Executive Pastor<\/span><\/i>

At Your Best<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Carey Nieuwhof is a killer book on leveraging your time and energy to be productive and effective. He takes all the best principles and practices and makes them relatable and doable for your day-to-day life. –<\/span>Clint Harrison, Oviedo Campus Pastor<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Rereading Dietrich Bonhoeffer\u2019s<\/span> Life Together<\/span><\/i><\/a> was such an encouragement to me last January during a difficult time. I\u2019ve never read<\/span> The Cost of Discipleship<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Bonhoeffer but am jumping in this January! \u00a0–<\/span>Josh Dean, Care and Groups Pastor<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The most helpful books I’ve read in the past couple of years are Try Softer<\/em><\/a> by Aundi Kolber, about giving yourself the grace of the gospel as you heal, and Managing Leadership Anxiety<\/em><\/a> by Steve Cuss — a book that would really help anyone, not just leaders, to apply gospel thinking to their anxious thoughts. – Kelly Adkins, Experience Director<\/em><\/p>\n

This year I plan on reading <\/span>Ordering Your Private World<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Gordon MacDonald and <\/span>Rhythms of Renewal: Trading Stress and Anxiety for a Life of Peace and Purpose<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Rebekah Lyons. –<\/span>Rachel Hale, graceKIDS Director<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re involved with guest services or simply want to grow in hospitality,<\/span> People Are The Mission<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Danny Franks and<\/span> The Comeback Effect<\/span><\/i><\/a> by Jason Young and Jonathan Malm are excellent reads. –<\/span>Scott Harrell, Next Steps Director<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Journals and Studies<\/span><\/h1>\n

I was recently gifted<\/span> this gratitude journal<\/span><\/a> from <\/span>Cultivate What Matters. <\/span><\/i>I\u2019m planning to keep working through it in 2022 to get better at slowing down and creating space to stop and just be thankful. Love how it prompts you to rewrite the Scripture too! \u00a0–<\/span>T Munroe, Communications Manager<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Last year I started using a<\/span> Growth Journal<\/span><\/a> from <\/span>Growth Roots Co<\/span><\/i>. It has a system for organizing notes, as well as sections for gratitude, prayer requests, book lists and more. Every month there\u2019s a prompt to reflect and set new goals for the upcoming month. I\u2019ve found digital journaling and planning to be a huge help to me! I remember things better when I write them down, but I am the worst about collecting journals and then only writing in them three times before moving on. I now subscribe to<\/span> She Reads Truth<\/span><\/a>\u2019s digital studies, so each new study is sent to my email. I can download the pdf version to my iPad then highlight, write, and journal right on the pages. Apps and Podcasts<\/span><\/h1>\n

The <\/span>Bible Project<\/span><\/a> is my absolute jam, especially their latest podcast series on <\/span>Paradigms<\/span><\/i><\/a>, which is all about how to read the Bible. –<\/span>Grant Nixon, Winter Garden Campus Pastor<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The podcast<\/span> The Place We Find Ourselves<\/span><\/i><\/a> is one of my favorites that I will continue to listen to this year. It’s hosted by a Christian therapist who combines both theology and Scripture with research on the brain and attachment theory. –<\/span>Julie Hotalen, Care and Counseling Coordinator<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Awesome Marriage<\/span><\/a> has a podcast and blog, and if you submit your email address, they\u2019ll send you a daily marriage thought called \u201cOne Thing To Grow Your Marriage Each Day\u201d \u2013 always on point! –\u00a0<\/span>Scott Harrell, Next Steps Director<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I love the<\/span> Abide<\/span><\/a> app for meditation. It\u2019s a quick way to pause and refocus. You can pick between 2, 5, 10, or 15 minute meditations. There are even bedtime stories for kids! –\u00a0<\/span>Jeanne Harrison, Staff Writer<\/span><\/i>
