We\u2019ve got math exams and marriage problems, cavities and clogged toilets, deadlines and distractions. When you\u2019re struggling to make it from one day to the next, the Lenten season can feel like one giant \u201cto do\u201d on an already-overwhelming list. But Lent is not about obligation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lent is about invitation.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Spiritual Renewal<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lent is an invitation to exhale.<\/b> It\u2019s a season for slowing down and encountering Jesus in the ordinary rhythms of life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/i>Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.<\/span><\/i> Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.<\/span><\/i> For my yoke is easy and my burden is light\u201d (Matthew 11:28-30).<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Where is Jesus inviting you to trade a yoke of sin, self-righteousness, or despair for the light and life-giving burden of being His disciple?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Personal Discipline<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lent is an invitation to grow.<\/b> It\u2019s a season for pressing into spiritual disciplines for the sake of changing not just what we do, but who we are becoming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDo not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God\u2019s will is\u2014his good, pleasing and perfect will\u201d (Romans 12:2).<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Where do you need Jesus to transform your life this Lenten season, realigning your heart with His perfect will?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Christian Unity<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lent is an invitation to let others in.<\/b> It\u2019s a season for coming together as followers of Christ and celebrating a story bigger than our own.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,<\/span><\/i> then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind\u201d<\/span><\/i> (Philippians 2:1).<\/span><\/p>\n
