Wait, did you say 9.5 bamboo clothing brands?? Yes, because technically there are 10 clothing companies listed, but the 10th is slightly different than the rest. Stay until the end to find out why.

I’d like to preface this by saying that if you develop a bamboo addiction like I did, I take zero (okay, maybe a little) responsibility for it. Read on at your own (or, at least your bank account’s) risk…

Best Bamboo Brands

When I think about all of the bamboo clothing brands out there, it’s really hard to pick the best, or the top bamboo clothing brands, because it really can depend on several factors. I like to take into account the print or solid color, quality of fabric, and honestly… the culture of the brand. I’ve tried quite a few brands, and I want to share my honest thoughts on each of these brands.

What Is So Great About Bamboo Clothing?

Bamboo baby clothes, particularly bamboo pajamas, have exploded in recent years (there’s soooooo many bamboo brands out there- and I’m here for it) because of the amazing benefits it offers. So, to answer the question, here’s what’s so great about bamboo fabric.

Sustainable and Eco-friendly

Most clothing companies I’ve experienced have a desire to make our planet better. Bamboo is sustainably grown as a raw material. It’s also grown organically, meaning that it doesn’t require pesticides and/or artificial fertilizers to grow. It also requires less water to produce than other fabrics, which makes it a great eco-friendly option for parents looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Bamboo helps to minimize CO2, while generating as much as 35% more oxygen than trees.

Softness and Comfort

Bamboo baby clothes are silky soft and breathable, making them a great choice for a baby’s sensitive skin. It’s also marketed as a great option for babies with eczema. Plus, it’s naturally insulating, so the fabric keeps babies cool in warm weather and warm during cold months.

Durability and Longevity

Bamboo is stretchy, similar to spandex, so your child can get much more use out of them than typical organic cotton clothes. My baby was still wearing size 3-6 months at 10 months old. She’s currently 23 months, and is still wearing a size 12-18 months in certain brands. But my favorite part: the resell value! No joke, the bamboo buy-sell-trade market is a jungle. What Are the Downsides of Bamboo?

Inconsistent sizing

As I mentioned previously, the sizing among the various brands out there vary greatly, so it’s hard to know what is really “true to size.” It’s sort of trial and error with new brands, so you kind of just have to start with one brand, get familiar with the sizing, and then do some research to compare how other brands fit. Most often, I’ve been able to reach out directly to company owners or reps and ask how their sizes compare to other bamboo clothing brands.

These are all size 18-24 months in different brands!

Requires Greater Care

Beware the Aquiphor… no, but really. Bamboo baby clothes stain a lot easier, and also require more care when it comes to laundry. It’s recommended to wash on cold, inside out on the gentle cycle, and hang dry. I’ve spent countless hours soaking, spot treating, and hang drying, but it honestly is worth it to take care of them- especially since I know I’ll be selling most of it eventually.

You’ll regularly find me spot treating and soaking my daughter’s rompers in the sink!

It’s On The Pricey Side

I’ll be honest, the price tag is a little steep, but considering their worth, I feel like it evens out. I usually make about half my money back after reselling, so I kind of look at it that way.

Okay, I know you’re anxious to shop!

Bubble Baby Bamboo

Best For: Eco-conscious, slightly boujie, bamboo loving mamas! Or really, anyone who loves the prints and loves supporting non-profits.

  • Most Popular Product(s): All blankets, but especially the Sprout Toddler blankets (sell out within 0.000457 seconds of launching!)
  • Sizing: True To Size
  • Cost: $$$$
  • Footie Grips: Yes
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: The owner is incredible, and every print is dedicated to an organization which helps rescue, rehabilitate and protect the animals in the print. Every solid color is dedicated to a charity for philanthropic research, and supporting families. For example, their sea turtle print is called Nest, and helps support N.E.S.T. Their prints and colors are incredible, and really well designed (sorry to say, but some brands’ prints just aren’t my jam), and I want them all. I also love that they use sustainable materials and recyclable packaging. The blankets are so so soft and fluffy. I also love the community around this brand!
  • Facebook Group: Bubble Baby VIP
  • Drawbacks: Super hard to score a blanket- everything sells out lightning fast. My only critique of the zippies (as with a lot of other brands as well) is the thickness of the zipper lining. It tends to bulge out and not always lie flat on my daughter.

Eclipse Kids

Best For: Daywear!

  • Most Popular Product(s): Solid tees and the touchdown print (hello football season!)
  • Sizing: True To Size
  • Cost: $$$
  • Footie Grips on Zippies: No
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: Eclipse Kids is one of the few bamboo companies that offers a wide variety of daywear. While I love bamboo jammies, my daughter is getting older and I need more daywear options that don’t look like I just left her in her pjs all day. For me personally, I don’t like to put my daughter down for a nap in jean shorts or overalls, and it gets tedious having to change her clothes every time she goes down for a nap. Eclipse Kids’ is the perfect solution because my favorites are the ruffle sleeve dresses and bubble rompers. They are the perfect combo of stylish and comfortable. I love the versatility of the shorties, T-shirts, bummies, and bodysuits. You can easily mix and match, and there’s a good variety or boy, girl, and neutral prints. Eclipse Kids has become a staple in our household.
  • Facebook Group: Eclipse Kids VIP
  • Drawbacks: Some body styles not offered. I love bamboo pants for my toddler and I wish Eclipse Kids had them. Also, I love matching with my mini, so I’d love to see adult wear offered in the future.

Kyte Baby

Best For: Intro into the bamboo world- can’t go wrong.

  • Most Popular Product(s): Sleep bags (ah-mazing!), toddler blankets
  • Sizing: TTS, slightly on the small side for 2-piece-jammies and shortalls
  • Cost: $$
  • Footie Grips: No for NB, 0-3, and 3-6; Yes on 6-12 and up
  • Fabric Composition: 97% bamboo viscose, 3% spandex
  • Why I love them: Their fit is my favorite of all the brands I’ve tried. They have a large social media presence and following, and I personally love the fit of their rompers and footies. They were the first bamboo brand I tried because I kept seeing their sleep sack being recommended in my due date Facebook groups, and I went all in with Kyte after that first footie. They offer a lot of different bamboo products like crib sheets and blankets, bamboo t shirts, kids and women’s dresses. Their sleep sacks are by far my favorite. They’re super soft, like sleeping in a cloud.
  • Facebook Group: Kyte Baby | Kyte Club
  • Drawbacks: Their prints with white backgrounds are pretty see-through, and a lot of their drops sell out really fast.

The Sleepy Sloth

the sleepy sloth bamboo

Best For: Tall kids!

  • Most Popular Product(s): Honestly… everything, but Grub Time and their signature sloth print, Easton are among the top favorites.
  • Sizing: Runs large (in this photot, my 23-month-old is wearing size 12-18 with room to grow still). I feel these fit tall kids better, as the torso is a bit longer than some other brands.
  • Cost: $$$
  • Footie Grips: Yes
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: I think their prints are amazing, and such high quality. Their bamboo fabrics are among the thickest of most bamboo clothing companies. While most other brands’ prints on white backgrounds are see through, TSS’s are not! They have a line of adaptive jammies for littles with medical needs, which I think is incredible. The owners are amazing, and very involved in all of the Facebook groups.
  • Facebook Group: The Sleepy Sloth VIP
  • Drawbacks: Their drops sell out in minutes. It’s very competitive to purchase off of their site. Their popularity grew really fast (which is amazing for them!!), but because prints are ordered months in advance from their suppliers, their inventory can’t keep up with their exploding following. The owners are working to have more inventory in the future. I also don’t feel that fold-over cuffs are necessary for the larger sizes. To me, it makes the cuffs feel more bulky.

Blake + Rae

blake and rae bamboo clothing

Best For: Taller kiddos and mamas who love a little boho

  • Most Popular Product(s): I Ruff You print
  • Sizing: Runs Very Large
  • Cost: $$
  • Footie Grips: No
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: One of the owners recently posted on social media that if a mama out there has a child suffering from a skin condition and cannot afford bamboo clothes, they can reach out to her and she will send a free pair. This is a testament to the WHY of this brand, and that’s why they are one of the best bamboo clothing brands out there!
  • Drawbacks: The fold over footies don’t have grips on the bottom, so it can be slippery for your little one on hard floors. I also don’t think the fold over sleeves are necessary for larger sizes.

Big Dreams, Little Jammies

big dreams little jammies bamboo

Best For: Summertime, since they are on the thin side

  • Most Popular Product(s): Zip Rompers and 2 piece pajamas
  • Sizing: TTS
  • Cost: $$$
  • Footie Grips: Yes
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: The owner is so sweet. When I accidentally ordered the wrong item, she refunded me immediately, no questions asked, and told me to donate the items I accidentally ordered, as they had already shipped. The order I placed for the correct item included a hand-written thank you note, AND a free matching baby hat. I will proudly continue to support this brand! I also love the slight shimmer to the fabric of the Deerly Beloved print!
  • Drawbacks: I’m not sure if it’s the same for the zip romper, as I only have the 2 piece jammies, but they are among the thinnest of all of the bamboo brands I’ve tried. The white is very see-through, and the printed tag inside is black, so it’s quite noticeable. Since we only wear these for jammies, it’s not that big of a deal.

Laree+ Co

Best For: Mamas wanting to shop for more than bamboo.

  • They offer many other products as well, including cotton clothes, women’s tops, and a variety of baby clothes.
  • Most Popular Product(s): Ruffle Footies
  • Sizing: Runs large
  • Cost: $$$
  • Footie Grips: Yes
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: Their mission is to spread awareness about medically complex children, and a percentage of proceeds go to the Lillian Foundation. They also offer discounts to military and healthcare customers. Being the wife of a former Marine, I love the military-inspired prints!
  • Drawbacks: Sizing runs huge, so if you’re new to the brand like I was when first purchasing and wouldn’t know that, you may have to wait a while until your little one can fit into them.

Larkspur Baby Company

Best For: Budget-friendly mamas, babies that are on the chunkier side

  • Most Popular Product(s): Rompers
  • Sizing: TTS, slightly shorter and a little bit boxier
  • Cost: $
  • Footie Grips: No
  • Fabric Composition: 96% bamboo viscose, 4% Lycra spandex
  • What makes them special: You can get quite a bit for your money, since they are so affordable.
  • Drawbacks: The quality of the darker color prints is not the best. The inside of the fabric is a different color than the colored outside. However, I feel for how inexpensive they are, they are welcome in my bamboo rotation!

Love, Eloise

Best For: Fun, bold prints

  • Most Popular Product(s): Convertible Zip Rompers
  • Sizing: Runs Large
  • Cost: $$$
  • Footie Grips: Yes
  • Fabric Composition: 95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: They are super soft, and there’s a variety of fun prints and solids. Their customer service is wonderful! I bought a bundle of 5 rompers (an amazing deal, by the way!!) and the owner was so sweet to mix and match some sizes so now I have some size ups! Highly recommend.
  • Drawbacks: Like other brands I’ve mentioned, I don’t love how thick the zipper lining is. Since these already run large, it makes the zipper bulge out a lot.

Kindthing

Best For: a bamboo alternative- that’s right, this brand’s clothes are actually modal, not bamboo fabric.

  • Most Popular Product(s): Wild About You Zip Romper
  • Sizing: Runs Large
  • Cost: $$$
  • Footie Grips: No
  • Fabric Composition: 95% modal, 5% spandex
  • Why I love them: This brand is incredibly earth conscious. For every item purchased, a tree is planted. Their mission is to create a sustainable future for the next generation. Most of their prints give off cool, earthy vibes, which I love.
  • Drawbacks: Very limited options for adult

Final Thoughts

So what makes one bamboo company “better” than another? Honestly, I feel like it’s personal preference (though there are some obvious higher and lower quality products out there) depending on your taste and how that brand’s bamboo clothes fit your child.

There’s so many great bamboo clothing brands out there- I want to try them all! Some of the other brands on my list are: Little Sleepies, Muse Threads, Kickee Pants, Bums and Roses (formerly Little Bum Bums), Angel Dear, and Posh Peanut.

If you have any review of any of these, or other suggestions of brands to try, drop them in the comments below!
